FAQ: "My daughter is a Christian married to a great Jewish man, and his mom is coming over for Christmas Eve. She was wondering if she could bring the Minorah over and something called the Dreadel game. I told her it would probably be better for us to keep the Holidays separate so as not to confuse the kids. Bar Mitzvah

In the Jewish religion, bar mitzvah—"son of the commandment"—refers to a boy who has reached 13 years of age. At this time, he is considered a man in the sense of being responsible to take on the religious obligations of Jewish life. The term bar mitzvah is also commonly used for the ceremony itself, the rite of passage during which the young man reads in Hebrew the portion of the Torah (five books of Moses) prescribed for that week and chants the Haftarah (corresponding portion from the Prophets for that week).

I would say after 28 years of a "cross cultural" marriage there simply is no spiritual harmony. It has for me, been like being in a marriage by myself. With loving respect I would counsel anyone contemplating this sort of union to consider strongly 2 Corinthians 6:14.

That being said, I believe for those of us who did not heed God's guidelines, should stay in our marriage and believe God to display His mighty work (Romans 8:28).
